Title: Who Made Your Mouth
Text: Exodus 3-4
Target: Don’t let the doubt within you, limit the God calling over you.
1. Why Me?: “But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the
children of Israel out of Egypt?” (Ex. 3:11)
a. Your upbringing Prepared You: “She named him Moses, “Because,” she said,
“I drew him out of the water.” (Ex. 2:10)
b. Your experiences put a Burden in You: “One day, when Moses had grown up,
he went out to his people, and looked on their burdens…” (Exodus 2:11-13)
c. You feel your mistakes Disqualified You: “He supposed that his brothers
would understand that God was giving them salvation by his hand, but they did
not understand.” (Acts 7:25)
2. Who are You?: “Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to
them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his
name?’ what shall I say to them?” (Ex. 3:13)
a. God of Unlimited Power: “God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM." (Ex. 3:14a)
b. Who uses Ordinary People: "And he said, “say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am
has sent me to you."’ (Ex. 14b)
c. To Do the Supernatural: “I promise that I will bring you up out of the affliction of
Egypt to…a land flowing with milk and honey." (Ex. 3:17)
3. What if?: “Then Moses answered, “But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my
voice, for they will say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you.’” (Ex. 4:1)
a. A Staff Confirmed the Hand of God: “that they may believe that the Lord, the
God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of
Jacob, has appeared to you.” (Ex. 4:5)
b. The Cloak revealed the Anointing of God: “If they will not believe you,” God
said, “or listen to the first sign, they may believe the latter sign.” (Ex. 4:8)
4. I Can’t!: “But Mosed said to the LORD, “Oh, my LORD, I am not eloquent, either in the
past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.”
(Ex. 4:10)
a. Never Have Been: “Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or
deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?” (Ex. 4:11)
b. Never Will Be: “I will be with your mouth and teach you what to speak” (Ex. 4:12)
5. They're Better!: “But he said, “Oh, my Lord, please send someone else.” (Ex. 4:13)
a. God Picked you: Your Background brings you to the foreground!
b. God’s Got you: Your name is on the sign, but it’s God’s name on the line!
Takeaway: Sometimes our environments can produce insecurities in us, but God can work
through them to grow us into who we are created to be.
